Alana & Matt’s Grand Marais Fall Engagement

Fall on Minnesota’s North Shore is always beautiful, but for Alana and Matt, it marked the beginning of their next chapter — from a Lutsen sunrise proposal to a Grand Marais sunset straight out of a movie.

A Secret Sunrise Proposal in Lutsen

We started hiking at sunrise to a little hidden spot in Lutsen, Minnesota. The world was still and quiet, with nothing but the sound of waves brushing against the rocks and the trees whispering in the wind. Matt led Alana down a path overlooking golden lakes, trees, and the sun. It was special, intimate, and perfect for Matt to propose. She said yes (!!), and the moment felt like something straight out of a dream!!

If you’re thinking of a North Shore proposal, this little hidden corner of Lutsen is proof that you don’t need a crowd or fancy setup for something breathtaking, just intention, timing, and the person you love most!!

Exploring the Fall Colors + North Shore Winery

After a morning full of emotion, we headed toward the North Shore Winery; this is one of my favorite cozy stops for couples sessions in fall while visiting Lutsen. The vineyards were glowing with color, and the atmosphere felt calm and romantic. We toasted to their engagement, surrounded by golden leaves and a view that seemed to stretch forever.

From there, we wandered through a few hidden backroads that only locals seem to know about. The trees were drenched in orange and red, creating a tunnel of color that made for the most cinematic fall engagement photos in Minnesota!!

Ending the Night in Grand Marais at Sunset

As the day faded, we made our way north to Grand Marais. This little harbor town never disappoints: boats swaying in the distance, soft light over the lake, and that perfect chill in the air that only happens in October. Alana and Matt walked along the shore as the sun set, wrapping up one of the most beautiful Grand Marais engagement sessions I’ve ever documented!!

Everything about their day, the Lutsen sunrise proposal, the North Shore winery stop, the hidden fall roads, and the Grand Marais sunset, perfectly reflected who they are: adventurous, intentional, and completely in love.
